Description

Barkcloth - a type of fabric made from the inner bark of certain trees - has a textured surface and was popular for home decor and upholstery during the mid-20th century.

This framed barkcloth fabric sample features a design depicting crane birds, a common motif in midcentury textiles. It was produced in the United States around 1949 by the Spectrum Company, a textile manufacturer known for producing a wide range of fabrics in different styles and patterns to cater to the prevailing tastes of the time.
